The Concept of Self
Three experiential self-esteem workshops for children aged 12-17, each lasting thirty minutes, will run simultaneously at three points of the Mediterranean Architecture Center (Grand Arsenal). Curated by educator, Chania Mayor’s educational advisor, and author Anna Nebavlaki (“Ftou Kai Vgaino” / “Ready or not, here I come!”, Kaleidoscope Publishing), along with local and other artists and scientists, the workshops will operate in a circular manner, so all children will rotate through each one: 1st Workshop: “Food for Thought” (Konstantinos V. Proimos, Assistant Professor of History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture at the University of Patras), 2nd Workshop: “Something Precious” (Konstantinos Fischer, Visual Artist), 3rd Workshop: “Lights, Camera, Action Chania” (Nikos Kampianakis, Photographer).

“A Musical Bridge Between Greece and Turkey,” Honoring Zülfü Livaneli
A special musical evening dedicated to the deep friendship and artistic meeting of two iconic creators: Mikis Theodorakis and Zülfü Livaneli. The performance will be by Ioanna Forti, with Heraklis Zakkas on bouzouki, Alexandros Kapsokavadis on guitar, and Achilleas Wastor on piano, who is also responsible for the artistic direction of the program. Greetings will be delivered by Giannis Giannakakis, Deputy Mayor for Culture of Chania, and Giorgos Agorastakis, president of the Pan-Cretan Association of Mikis Theodorakis Friends.

For the book by author Fontas Ladis, Matthaios Frantzeskakis, Director of the Chania Film Festival and Board Member of the Pan-Cretan Association of Mikis Theodorakis’ Friends, and Thanasis Sylivos, publisher, will discuss the work. The author will intervene via a pre-recorded message, and the 20-minute documentary “Mia epanastasi arxizei” (“A Revolution Begins”) (directed by Vangelis Dimitriou), based on the first chapter of the book, will be screened.

The two daughters of the Turkish Cretan poet and academic Cevat Çapan, Leylâ Çapan and Nigar Çapan, read a text written by Cevat especially for the event, while the Turkish Cretan poet Ayșe Lahur Kirtunç and the translator Anthi Karra speak about his work.
