In Focus Europe and 50 Years of Parliamentary Democracy in Greece
With the main theme "Europe: Past and Future: Perspectives on Literature, Culture, Politics" the 3rd Chania Book Festival (CBF) embarked on a journey through the tumultuous past and the uncertainties of the future of the European continent, through the lens of literature, history, and politics. In this context, various thematic discussions and book presentations were held. As 2024 marks fifty years since the fall of the dictatorship and the birth of the Third Hellenic Republic, participants at the CBF also discussed the challenges of Greek democracy and its literary representations.

Highlights Day #5 · 30.06.2024
The 3rd Chania Book Festival (CBF) was held, as in the previous two years, centered around the city's Venetian Harbor between the Center of Mediterranean Architecture (C.M.A.–Grand Arsenal) and the Mikis Theodorakis Theater. However, this year, new venues were added: the fully renovated event hall of the Mikis Theodorakis Theater ("Hall 2" – entrance from the square on the Neoria side), the Maritime Museum of Crete (Neorio Moro), an iconic landmark of Chania housing the Permanent Exhibition of Ancient and Traditional Shipbuilding, the Chania Cultural Center, and an innovative, adaptable, multifunctional space—the Mobile Urban Living Room of the Municipality of Chania (MULaR)—which was placed in Katechaki Square (between C.M.A. and the Mikis Theodorakis Theater).

Honorary event for the author Rhea Galanaki
"Gratitude, joy, and emotion that Chania, this magnificent city of Crete—which, however, is not my birthplace—honored me generously... Unforgettable days and nights in the beautiful Chania at the 3rd Book Festival!"
