Theodoros Grigoriadis
Theodoros Grigoriadis was born in Palaiochori, Pangaio, and studied English Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked in public education and at the Serres Public Library. He writes short stories, novellas, and novels.
His novel Life on the Border (Zoi methoria) was honored with the 2016 State Literature Award, while Father’s Song (To tragoudi tou patera) received the 2020 Nikos Themelis Award from O Anagnostis magazine. Life on the Border was translated and published in Denmark in 2021, and Alouza: A Thousand and One Lovers was translated in Egypt. His collection The Nostalgia of Loss (I nostalgia tis apoleias) won the 2023 Short Story Award from O Anagnostis and has been translated into French.
Program Overview
Creative Writing Workshop for Junior High and High School Students
Ιδού η μετάφραση της περιγραφής του εργαστηρίου: English Translation The workshop is addressed to students from the Junior High Schools and Vocational High Schools (EPAL) of Palaiochora and Kantanos, consisting of four two-hour sessions. In each session, students will read and discuss short literary excerpts focusing on the school experience and adolescence; using these as a starting point, they will compose their own short narrative texts. The creative writing process will be based on both lived experience and imagination, with a particular emphasis on connecting personal stories to the place and memory of Crete. The goal of the workshop is to cultivate the students' reading experience and their personal narrative voice.
