Program Overview
The program "All Bodies Can Dance – Removing the Obstacles" is based on the social model of disability. Through the book Dance with Me (Chorepse mazi mou, Christina Apostolidi, Psichogios Publications), which tells the story of a deaf dancer, students begin to understand that disabled people are not excluded from various aspects of life because of their disability, but due to the barriers imposed by the environment and prevailing attitudes. Using a dance performance as a starting point, they identify physical or social obstacles that may affect or even exclude dancers, crew members, and the audience. Working in teams through different "accessibility lenses" (mobility, hearing, vision), they propose practical changes to the performance space. Their proposals are captured in a scale model, which will be presented at the "Bibliomachies" student conference.
