On the occasion of his book “Literature’s Refuge” (Princeton University Press), William Stroebel, professor at the University of Michigan, talks with poet Yiannis Doukas about diaspora, mutual refuge, the uprooting not only of populations but also of narratives, of contemporary divisions and their methodological imprinting, of the lost and missing voices that captured the fluid and complex identities of the Eastern Mediterranean until about a century ago.
