In 100 days -and a bit- the 3rd Chania Book Festival is coming!
June 26-30, 2024: "We connect words, we unite narratives"
From Wednesday, June 26, to Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Chania Book Festival returns for its third consecutive year, organized by the Municipality of Chania, in collaboration with the Region of Crete. With a renewed program and a central theme: "Europe, past and future. Perspectives on literature, culture, politics", the Chania Book Festival will take place, as in the previous two years, at the Venetian Harbor of the city, between the Mediterranean Architecture Center, the "Mikis Theodorakis Theater," and other iconic venues.
With the participation of important Greek and foreign writers, academics and intellectuals, panels around contemporary themes, both from the field of literature and from the field of society, as well as book presentations, the Chania Book Festival returns for its 3rd edition through innovative actions, aiming to become a meeting place for the book lovers from Greece and around the world.
3rd ViceVersa Greek-German Translation Workshop, June 23-30, 2024
Applications Submission Deadline: March 31, 2024
A new institution, ViceVersa, a Greek-German translation workshop, will be hosted this year at the 3rd Chania Book Festival, from June 23 to June 30, 2024. Translators from and to German will have the opportunity to collaborate on texts they submit themselves, or on texts provided by the organizers, to discuss translation-related topics, and to exchange views on their professional status. The workshop is organized every two years by the TOLEDO program of the German Translators Fund (DÜF) and is directed by translators Michaela Pritzinger and Theo Votsos. The focus of the five-day workshop will be an in-depth discussion of the submitted translations. At the end of the event, the workshop participants themselves will present their results at an open event.
